What do you do when Mom and Dad don’t agree?
My first encounter with Jacob was a referral from another office. He was interested in buying property that needed work but that he and his family could live in while fixing it. He and his wife looked at several properties in that condition but none seemed right for them.
House after house was shown and nothing worked. They increased the dollar value and still nothing worked for them. Finally, one day we found a house. It was within their price and location and didn’t need any work; it was perfect and move-in ready.
There was one problem. It already sold – and sold at full list price.
So, the dilemma is that Mom wants a house that is move-in ready; she doesn’t want to live in a construction zone. Dad wants to buy under market price and have good bragging rights; he is willing and capable of fixing it up. This is a Sellers’ Market meaning most properties are selling at or above List Price. What is the best way to help Mom and Dad find a home they both can agree on?
