Need a job?

It seems that if you need a job then Texas is the place to be with over 457,000 jobs created last year according to the Texas Workforce Commission’s latest report.

December’s unemployment rate fell to 4.6%, the lowest we’ve seen since May 2008, with job increases in all 11 major industries. If you’re looking for work in the private sector, then you’re in luck as jobs in that sector increased more than 420,000, and the highest number of new jobs added in 2014 were in professional and business services sectors, and one-third of those were in technical and scientific jobs (Niekamp).

In the North Dallas area more jobs will be added this year with the opening of Nebraska Furniture Mart, the many businesses of Grandscape, FedEx’s new headquarters in Plano, State Farm’s new regional facility in Richardson to name just a few of the many businesses opening up in the area.

Outlook for 2015 remains optimistic but cautious with two known headwinds of the low oil prices that are impacting Texas’ energy sector and Texas’ pension funds being under-funded according to Moody analyst Thomas Aaron (McGaughy).
